Before summer 2024, Emilio Soria sent me a brief, almost one-sentence proposal for a political debate simulator. I developed it into AI Debate as a project funded by Cátedra PAGODA and, ultimately, the Generalitat Valenciana. That project officially ended in September 2024, then I returned to it for my final degree project. From the beginning, I also wanted the debate to sound like its speakers, so I later fine-tuned F5-TTS to clone the voices of Pedro Sánchez and Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

Approach

  • Built a RAG pipeline over real parliamentary speeches so each politician's answers draw from their own arguments, rhetoric, and positions.
  • Designed the multi-agent debate flow, including the two political agents, turn-taking, and a moderator.
  • Fine-tuned an F5-TTS model for Sánchez and Feijóo, starting from Juan Pablo Gallego's Spanish checkpoint.

Impact

  • Presented the funded project to the Generalitat Valenciana and, on October 22, 2024, at IDAL's event The Large Language Model Revolution.
  • Expanded the project into my final degree project and received the Best Final Degree Project Award.
  • Published the work with Emilio Soria, Joaquín Martín, and Jorge Castellanos in Intelética.
